AWC has worked collaboratively with JMA throughout this project and it is great to see it reach such a successful conclusion.
From championing the capital application through tendering for a professional team and then managing the re-furbishment and fit-out, AWC has enjoyed working with the JMA team in really making a difference, transforming an old Council building into a bright, modern and progressive learning environment.
The Reading Bloodhound SSC event coordinated and managed by AWC and the team at John Madejski Academy is nearly upon us.
A 14m mock-up of the 1,000mph car is due to arrive on Friday 09th January in time for the first day of workshops starting on Monday 12th January.
Well over 2,000 students and 150 staff from nearly 40 local schools are involved and it is sure to be a memorable and fascinating few weeks.
It is coming quickly, really quickly!
AWC's Alan Ward has championed bringing the Bloodhound SSC team to Reading.
The Bloodhound SSC project is the UK's world land speed record attempt. The team aims to achieve 1,000mph in a 13.5m, 7.5T jet and rocket powered car. That's 4.5 football pitches every second in a car that uses a Formula 1 engine, just as a fuel pump!
The project is being used as a 'vehicle' to inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians (STEM) through a fascinating, real world and world beating application.
Working closely with the senior team at John Madejski Academy, AWC has helped coordinate and manage the creation of a fascinating and largest of it's kind event consisting of 20 days of interactive, educational and fun workshops held at the Academy and focused at 8-14 year old children from across Reading.
We have also arranged for the Project Director, entrepreneur and Richard Noble OBE to speak at two events on 14th January 2015 again at the Academy.

FC Brown & Bisley, the UK's largest manufacturer of steel furniture, continues to expand it's product portfolio and international reach.
Alan Ward commented; 'We have been fortunate to have worked with the Bisley team for a number of years now and have got involved in a range of strategic and product development projects. They have been and continue to be a great company and a great customer and it's real buzz to see see Mondo and Stage launched to such a positive and receptive audience particularly having been part of the development Team pretty much from the start.'
